Preheat oven to 325°F. Grease a 15x10x1-inch baking pan. In a large mixing bowl, using an electric mixer beat together granulated sugar and 1 cup butter until smooth.
Add eggs, 1 at a time, stirring well after each addition. Add 4 tablespoons of the cocoa powder and 1 teaspoon of the almond extract. Stir until combined. Add flour; stir until combined. Pour batter into pan.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Remove form oven and let cool slightly.
For frosting, in a mixing bowl beat 3 tablespoons melted butter, 2 tablespoons water, corn syrup, remaining 1 tablespoon cocoa powder and remaining 1 teaspoon almond extract until smooth. Add powdered sugar; beat until smooth. Spread frosting on warm brownies, and sprinkle with almonds.
